Most people think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments.'
One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.
Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc.
Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.
I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.
This works with grandchildren, nieces, nephews as well as that annoying little shithead who lives next door.

I think it is great. Health care reform will get passed. Check out the democrats who do not support it. There simply are not enough votes to oppose it. Even if Obama is a socialist racist negro. It does not matter health care will be passed - Yes we can!

Who gives a shit about Obama? We're stuck with him for 3 more years unless he does something idiotic to get impeached (or some racist redneck gets lucky). This is about punishing your kids. I gotta disagree with the article though. I only know a handful of people deluded enough to think spanking is a bad idea. Most people I know realize that problems in school when principals had a paddle were chewing gum and maybe smoking in the bathroom whereas now we have to have metal detectors in the entryways to our high schools.
I'm glad my parents just hit me upside the head. Nothing like a few lumps on the noggin to make a good, functioning member of society.
